Jon and Daenerys arrive at Winterfell with their combined armies and learn the Army of the Dead has breached the Wall, with the Night King commanding the undead Viserion. Struggling to unite a divided North, they find the Northern houses and the Vale rallying around Winterfell but distrusting Daenerys and doubting Cersei's pledge to send troops. Euron returns to King's Landing with the Golden Company and entices Cersei to consummate their union, while Cersei, through Qyburn, hires Bronn to assassinate Tyrion and Jaime. Theon rescues Yara, who sets out to retake the Iron Islands as he returns to Winterfell, where Jon is reunited with Arya.
Jon and Daenerys ride the dragons together and deepen their bond. Daenerys wants to reward Sam for saving Jorah, before realizing she executed his father and brother. Jon gets some big news: Sam tells him he was born Aegon Targaryen and is the true heir to the Iron Throne. At Last Hearth, the seat of House Umber, Tormund and Beric encounter Edd and other Night's Watch men; the castle's occupants are dead, and the wight of Ned Umber has been left as a gruesome message. Jaime arrives at Winterfell, where Bran awaits him.
