Tyland Lannister recruits the Triarchy as allies, first defeating Admiral Sharako Lohar in mud-wrestling. As Aemond becomes more volatile, Larys plots an escape, proposing that he and Aegon hide in Braavos, where Harrenhal's gold is stashed, and reclaim the throne after the war. After long searching, Rhaena finds the wild dragon. Gwayne confronts Criston, who regrets the war. A rage-fueled Aemond destroys Sharp Point with Vhagar, and Rhaenyra, who had hoped that more dragonriders would deter conflict, instead declares war, flush with new power and looking to press her advantage. Ulf's boorishness angers Jace, and Alyn rebuffs Corlys's attempts at reconciliation. Warned by Simon Strong that Daemon may be traitorous, Rhaenyra and Addam fly to Harrenhal, where Alys has led Daemon to a weirwood tree; there he foresees a future that includes a White Walker and Daenerys Targaryen, and seeing himself as one part in a larger story, he swears fealty to Rhaenyra.
Helaena, whose safety increasingly worries Alicent, refuses Aemond's demand to fly Dreamfyre into battle and foresees him dying in the war and Aegon reclaiming the throne. Alicent secretly travels to Dragonstone, offering to surrender King's Landing to Rhaenyra in exchange for her and her family's safety, but Rhaenyra insists Aegon must die to secure the throne. Otto is glimpsed as a captive in a cell, and armies in the Reach, the North, the Westerlands and the Riverlands, along with House Velaryon's and the Triarchy's fleets, mobilize for war.
