Brienne continues escorting Jaime across the Riverlands to King's Landing; finding a way to pass the time, he engages her in a fight, which is interrupted by Bolton soldiers who capture them both. Robb receives news that Winterfell was sacked and his brothers Bran and Rickon apparently killed by Theon; he has lost House Frey's support after breaking his marriage promise, and his bannerman Lord Rickard Karstark is furious at Jaime's release. Arya, Gendry and Hot Pie run into the outlaw group the "Brotherhood Without Banners" and stop at an inn, where the captured Hound exposes Arya's identity.
In King's Landing, Shae asks Tyrion for a favor, and Sansa says too much when Margaery and her grandmother Olenna, the "Queen of Thorns", question her about Joffrey's troubling personality and suggest she visit Highgarden. Theon is held in a dungeon and tortured by unknown captors. Bran, Rickon, Osha and Hodor encounter the siblings Jojen and Meera Reed, children of the Stark bannerman Howland Reed; Jojen, who has prophetic dreams, tells Bran that he is a warg, able to enter animals' minds.
